<HTML>Hi All:
In this equation I think we must find the moment where man became capable of abstract thought. The point at which the brain was capable but not necessarily able to learn new things. As I said a new born has very limited "intelligence" but of course is considered human. Would a full grown primate with the "intelligence" of a baby be considered "Man". If not where can one really draw the line ?
Just recently I was reading a website on the family that for many years billed themselves as the "ape man". They were completely covered in "fur". It was discovered that it was a single gene that was causing this appearance. On the surface, and not knowing the situation one might even have called this family members of a lost "Primate" family but they were of course very intelligent. So obviously appearance can have little to do with intellignece. I also have to question whether walking on two or four legs can really be used a a gauge as well. Tool making can not be used as we have seen chimps using tools to get at termites. So where do we draw the line ? Mikey can you help ?
Cheers
