<HTML>Bauval is not an astronomer and did not recognize the Bayer map. So what? Krupp erroneously claimed that all the maps in Buaval's book are upside down with south at the top. In fact, Buaval correctly points out that that is the way the Egyptians thought: south at the top. Krupp is not an Egyptologist and Bauval is not an astronomer. Both of them made stupid remarks that reveal each is ignorant of certain facts.
Bauval should not be judged in this instance for his "failure" as a student of late astronomy; he has not claimed to be one AFAIK. Krupp, however, should be faulted for attempting to debunk something with proper investigation on his part. In the late 70s I believe, Krupp ran a reprint of some work of Brugsch's, and seems to have had some interest in Egyptian ideas on the stars. If he has more knowledge of Egyptology than Bauval has of the history of astronomy, he is more at fault here for saying the maps were upside down IMO.
