That on the list!
The rattlesnake sound has been corroborated recently:
"I am a student at Northern Illinois University. I am working on a paper on the Pyramid of Kukulkan at Chichen Itza and am trying to find information concerning the second echo effect when facing east (towards the Temple of the Warriors). I have heard the "rattlesnake" echo myself".
In my experiance the "quetzal like" chirp echo is the rule rather than the exception for most reasonably sized Maya staircases. So if we can, for the moment, assume that my acoustic observation is accurate what can be said about it as intentional design? (Perhaps Bernard would comment.)
