Herodotus says he is repeating information supplied by the priests...information about events that happened a couple thousand years before. I would not invest too much into it. His Valley temple would be down by the water at the other end of his causeway but that is not where he would be permanently interred. However your description does sound like the tomb that Hawass has rediscoverd , the one he calls the tomb of Osiris.
