Please accept an observation from a non-expert... your Inuit example triggered something I read in Davidovits' book... and "experts" may have already refuted this as a non-fact, but I'll mention it just in case. According to his version of the AEs' knowledge in alchemy, nature, etc., they were so well versed on the material world around them that they differentiated types of mineral bearing materials to the point of even differentiating some by (physical) color gradations as to which was the superior one to use. Kind of like saying "Use only the dark brown clay, but not the other colors of it over there." If his interpretation of stela, heiroglyphs, etc. is accurate on this point, it would seem to bolster your concept of how familiar they were with the details of the material (physical) world around them. Just an fyi that perhaps an expert could expand upon (or refute).
