Nope. Same kinda limestone. Most of the GP was quarried from the plateau, as was the Sphinx carved from it.

Oh, Sorry, a second one: the salt deposits being responsible for inducing faster weathering.

If so, everything on the plateau should have consitently the same pattern and amount of erosion, yes? They don't. And the Sphinx was buried for most of it's life. How would you explain this?
