Thanks, C. Wayne ... although Magli is Italian, not French! I had thought of "en plein air", anyway, but it really didn't seem to fit anywhere in this context. I think the suggestion of MJ's Italian friend, "independently", is probably most apposite here.by Hermione - Ancient History

This topic seems to have drifted quite far from the question initially posed - Jesus as rabbi or rebbe? - and has attracted so many posts that it threatens to become unmanageable. Although I don't want to close this particular thread, could I ask anyone wanting to continue the discussion - which now seems to centre largely on the historic or non-historic identity of Christ - to start a newby Hermione - Ancient History
