Hmmmm that would be.....let think....Oh yes...now it's coming to me....Joseph Stalin! Who also said "Gratitude is a disease of dogs."by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
When I listen to all this crap about Stalin moving the country forward all I can think of was the 10 million or so people that died when he "centralized" the economy. When he asked one of his henchmen what would they do with peasants said henchmen shrugged his shoulders and said "Let them starve." And that's what Stalin did.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History

Nope I'm the once and future king of California, nothing less.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
But we have to consider how the monuments, excavation sites and potential excavation sites in Egypt are situated. Too many hands in charge of it all will loose the coherence needed to manage all that and give priorities where they are needed. It sounds good on paper. But from what I've heard the rising water table is threatening everything and nobody is doing anything. Anyhow my feeliby Rick Baudé - Ancient History
Like I said elsewhere my chances of walking on the moon are much better than excavating in Egypt. And I'm not joking.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
Make that Pharaoh Zahi first ruler of the 31st or 32 dynasty (depending on whether you allow for the Ptolemies.)by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
Ritva wrote-I also used to think, that giving one man the power would do wonders in preserving and managing the treasures in Egypt. Personally I'm vehemently against giving anyone too much power. No matter how noble and selfless they start out the power inevitably goes to their head and they think they're godalmighty as you said.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
I know that my chances of digging in the VOK are less than my chances of walking on the moon, which given the accelerated pace in the private space industry are looking pretty good right about now. However I have no idea who dug what, where and how far down they dug. But given 3500 years of rains landslides and the fact that everybody digging around covering up other peoples diggings. Hey guys you're burning up bandwidth with all these emoticons. How about some serious dialogue for a change.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
So looking at the map there's one cluster of tombs around Kv 9, 10, 11, 62 and another cluster of tombs around KV 16, 17, 63 which leaves a gap between KV 65 and 16. Enough of a gap for another two to three tombs.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
Looking at the map KV 9, 10, 11, 62 form one cluster of tombs while Kv 16, 17, 63 form another sub cluster leaving a gap between KV 65 and 16 somethig tells me there's at least one probably to or three tombs there waiting to be discovered.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
Okay I read it. Ho humm....who knows for sure. Anyhow I'm sure new tombs could be discovered at the rate of a couple of year with today's technology.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
I don't know what Nicholas Reeves is up too. But I can't access legendary times. Right now.by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
No, no channeling. Well yeah some channel surfing on TV when I was watching "numbers" the TV show about a mathemetician and his policeman brother who use industrial strength mathematics to solve all kinds of crimes that have everybody stumped. So why not apply the problem to the KOV. So I just kind of thought of the KOV as a 3D grid with tombs located in various places. There muby Rick Baudé - Ancient History

If it hasn't already been started, I think we should start the rumor that it is the burial of Akhenaten's five daughters (or did he have six. Even though I'm a incurable amarnaholic this is one part that has never really interested me.) that have been inexplicably missing from the record. Now to sweeten the pot we can start the rumor that there's another shaft tomb 15 metersby Rick Baudé - Ancient History
I don't think it's going too bad so far. Lots and lots and lots of minor errorsof course but then were dealing with reporters who are literally under awesome time restrictions. The presses must start rolling at midnight or so to get those papers on your doorstep by 6 AM. Oh, yes, I could pffffffft !! Much of modern archaeology is experimental. You try to do their technology. I would make a mess of it. It would take some serious practice, but I could do it. Actually, sounds like fun. Got any ore handy? And the great thing about experimental archeology is that you don't need permits or have to worry about upsetting somebody or offending some idiotic religiby Rick Baudé - Ancient History
Given that the exact same proportionalism and arm positions are employed in the iconography of the raised Djed, were Thoth is not present Yes as a matter of fact there's the "neb" symbol again. ,you would conclude i presume that the entire point of the Egyptian mysteries was to create a trite optical illusion capable of only being seen by the desperate. No the entire poinby Rick Baudé - Ancient History
I assume this was directed at mine and Ritva's post?by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
Hi Ritva Well I didn't toy with it, it jumped out at me! Anyhow once again great minds think alike. The AE's use the "water symbol" a lot by interlocking arms in such a way that they give that "VVVV" don't let the non-symmetry of the hands fool you!by Rick Baudé - Ancient History
If you look at the way thoth's arms are formed they actually make the "neb" symbol. Or "lord" In other words "lord Thoth" A good example of the use of negative space is in the fed ex symbol notice how the e and the x are linked in such a way that they form an arrow giving a sub consicous feeling of speed or accuracy or rushing. Sorry no phi, or pi or pentaby Rick Baudé - Ancient History
To me unless you spell it out mathematically and can prove that the Egyptians or any culture were chasing down pi or phi then you're just spinning your wheels. Phi pops out everyplace granted, so does a Fibobnacci series, But does that mean that plants have an innate mathematical sense? Not at all. Does a nautilus have a knowledge of advanced mathematics? Of course not. Can a bee determineby Rick Baudé - Ancient History
Has anyone in this forum considered the possiblity that phi and other geometrical and numerical occurances in so many human creations might be unconscious and insinctual i.e. genetically programed? Hmmm interesting question. However for it to be "instinctual and genetic" there would have to be some survival benefit for making phi and other geometrical constructions.
