In fact, she can do the one thing that neither you, nor I, nor many of the posters here can do -- she can read hieroglyphs so she can read what the people actually wrote.

Probably because the Egyptians never wrote about it, and possibly also because the conclusions you came to are based on a few examples and not on (for instance) looking at most of the depictions of these symbols (that'd be hundreds to thousands of times these symbols are found) AND reading the text that accompanies them.

I would note that Katherine's read more about the serpents and the charms against serpents and has seen more artifacts with serpents on them and the writing on those artifacts and so forth -- than either of us has ever seen.
I think on the basis of "she's seen so much more" that her word would be far more accurate. Particularly since she can read what they wrote (several of us can read just enough to check some of the given translations, but we're not fluent.)
