It is well established that the first pyramid in Egypt was built based on the religious belief of the primeval mound of creation. In this sense a pyramid is a mini mountain or a human construction symbolizing a mountain. But which mountain? Just any mountain?

If we take a look at the South King Chamber air shaft of Khufu’s pyramid we notice that it’s slope is 45 degrees. As seen from Kafre’s pyramid , the center Belt star of Orion – Alnilam has a maximum altitude of exactly 45 degrees at about 2554 BC – see OCT. This date agrees with the currently accepted date for the erection of Khufu’s pyramid.

So since the pyramid represents a mountain, let’s take a look at the sky as it would look in the past, not from Egypt but rather from the top of mount Everest – Earth’s tallest mountain.

The conclusion is that the maximum altitude of Alnilam as seen from Everest at 2639 BC was exactly equal to the East-Kafre pyramid apex – Khufu pyramid apex angle. This means that Kafre’s pyramid was built around Khufu’s based on astronomic and geodetic information relative to the rough time period Djozer’s pyramid was erected. On the other hand, the maximum altitude of Alnitak – which corresponds to Khufu’s pyramid - as seen from Everest at 2580 BC was exactly equal to the East-Kafre pyramid apex – Khufu pyramid apex angle, this same angle. This epoch is close to when Khufu’s pyramid was erected – or just before that during Sneferu’s rule.

These calculations are based on Google Earth mountain and pyramid coordinates, Petrie Giza data, and Starry Night Pro Plus 6.3.9 info.
