Hi all ...

In my most recent study of geometry at Dahshur I noticed that the cubit seemed to maybe be 20.6 inches. However at Giza it is most certainly about 20.618034 or a range of about 20.61 to 20.63 inches. If we assume just for a moment that a very sophisticated and accurate way of measuring was known what logical reasons (other than a fatter digit on a pharaoh) could be given for a cubit being shorter at Dahshur as opposed to Giza ?

I had thought maybe a degree of longitude divided but then that would be reversed and the further north you went the shorter the cubit would be. If we used latitude would not the distance for any angle increase as we proceeded north and would that not make a cubit longer the further north you went ?

Anyone have any ideas ?
