The pyr. is named Akhet Khufu. The pyramid name Akhet Khufu became the name of the Giza necropolis, so read your text something like "sailing downstream to the tomb at the pyramid Akhet Khufu."
Akhet Khufu was the pyramid and the surrounding area became known for it.
Memphis is called the White Wall or fortress. The determinative for wall or fortress did not cease to be a deteminative for wall/ fortress becasue it was used in the spelling of the name of the city.
Another name for Memphis was Men-nefer and was derived from the name of the pyramid town at the pyramid of Pepi I.
..."the pyramid-determinative clearly means "necropolis" or "cemetary", not pyramid."
No, IIRC it clearly means pyramid and is the determinative of the name of Khufu's pyramid.
The name Akhet Khufu appears on a block from the southern causeway at Giza- see pg 23 here - [
