Starting with this post by Scott Creighton:

Since this was posted, the image has vanished. Clearly we would wish to see it, so in “fair use” I reproduce it here.

Of the original replies, the most perceptive were these:

https://grahamhancock.com/phorum/read.php?1,347187,347269#msg-347269

I had this to say:

https://grahamhancock.com/phorum/read.php?1,347187,347258#msg-347258

So, a word beginning with a capital “B” and ending in “f” . . .

Returning to the question in 2018, I identified the word as “Benisouef”.

Vyse visited Benisouef during his trip to Upper Egypt and he mentions it several times in Operations I:

https://archive.org/details/operationscarrie01howa/page/106/mode/2up?q=benisouef

It is perhaps odd that Creighton failed to spot it as a candidate, as he quotes the name, in HOAX:

https://www.google.co.uk/search?&tbm=bks&q=benisouef . . .

The reason for his failure has already been touched on: he was from the outset fixated on the idea that the word is “Brewer”. It was in hopes of finding this name in the journal that he went to Aylesbury in the first place. His own most recent account of this is here:

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread1233312/pg1#pid24227990

It’s quite a selective account. A revision of my fuller one is here:

https://grahamhancock.com/phorum/read.php?1,1097177,1098682#msg-1098682

—with further comment here:

https://grahamhancock.com/phorum/read.php?1,1097177,1099821#msg-1099821

—and a retrospective here:

https://grahamhancock.com/phorum/read.php?1,1181252,1181594#msg-1181594

We see that Creighton’s approach to the journal was distorted from the outset by his prior assumptions and prior agenda.

M.
