Gillings shows that the formula imputed in MMP 14 (Vol equals 1/3 x h x (aa + ab + bb)) can be derived by subtracting the volume of the pyramid of height L from the volume of the pyramid of height k (taking the consensus view that they knew the formula of a pyramid as V = 1/3 x k x a x a)."
