What DeSalvo actually says (2) is:

He doesn't give a source, though.
Sourcebook was published in 2003; so after Sakovich, A.P. 2002. “Counting the Stones.” KMT 13 (3): 53-57. (
Pyramid Quest, published in 2005, has a section discussing the numbers of blocks in the GP - [
books.google.co.uk].) I can't remember the date of Hawass' publication on the 2,300,000 blocks, but apparently that finding was originally made by Petrie.
