It is good news that they are starting to open more sites, which will undoubtably help their tourism. That said, in the case of the recently opened Lahun pyramid, l do have concerns that opening some structures can lead to unintentional consequences. In my guide to Lahun l did highlight the unusual amount of debris found piled inside the passages and chamber and whence was its origin.l believe all this debris has been removed during the restoration but has it been carefully examined for clues? Was any detailed architectural survey done during restoration to answer questions such as posed by Dieter Arnold, on whether a shaft exists above the granite chamber etc. I just fear that some restorations can lead to the loss of important evidence. A huge amount has been loss at the Bent pyramid, l just hope they have been careful at Lahun.
