Thanks for pointing these things out. The site listed below traces the origin of the belief that the Egyptians invented bowling to a Petrie's description of a ball and nine vase-shaped pieces he found in one or more Naqadan graves.

The site goes on to state "Figure VII shows nine pins, similar to bowling pins, and four marble-sized balls." But it doesn't show that figure, which I assume it was in Petrie's notebook. As I haven't been able to find pictures of those things on the Internet, I was wondering if anyone here happened to have a reference for that notebook, or know where else I might be able to find those pictures.
