Help Wanted. smiling smiley Diodorus Siculus’ account of Egyptian embalming mentions a functionary called the paraschistes - the Ripper - whose job is to make the initial cut into the cadaver, and then run away very fast while the others throw things and curses at him. Are there any indications of this from actual Egyptian sources, particularly the execration thing? (It’s for a story I’m working on.)
