Which Wikipedia article? the one on Osiris? or on the crowns of Egypt? In either case, there's only
his word about the issue, except for an article on Osiris from Mabry (whom he references) or a passing reference from Abubakr (1937) about the crowns resembling a mushroom. Neither author is claiming that the deity or the crowns are actually personified mushrooms.
I've read Emboden and his theory about lotuses; they have more support, but in reality, the
Nymphaeae caerulae (blue lotus/waterlily) embues a body with
bioflavinoid effects rather than a psychotropic effect.
So, again, Berlant seems to have mushrooms on the brain: he sees them in
everything, and IMO, it's only him who is seeing them.
