Thank you for the proper contextual supporting artifacts, it all makes some sense now;

Akeru (plural form) most likely was part of the pre-Ptah creation acting as protector/guardian against the evil forces lurking in the darkness of the heavens, existing as part of Nun's creation (sky), where as Aker belongs to earth (Geb) stationed to guard both ends of Ptah's tunnel created for Re to travel through the underworld. In the latter case Aker then falls in the 'solar' realm of worship as being associated with Ptah's creation of Re's rebirth, and the Akhet (Axt) is a form of Aker's position guarding both worlds, a sort of shorthand notion combining the protected gates with the horizon of light and shadow, the point of rebirth. It's all very subtle.
