Good question Cladking, I have wondered the same thing often. Someone here should have a good answer. I wonder if anyone has ever broke them into chronological 'era' probabilities, i.e. from oldest to youngest, the passage numbers do not correlate in this manner and with 750+ the less informed of us end up scratching our heads. Using the characters referred to and perhaps the locations is one way but then as I understand it Old Egyptian is not easily deciphered 100%, I remember reading somewhere that Middle Egyptian writing accounts for only 80% of Old Egyptian writing, though that may not be the case in this day and age.
