I'm currently trying to make sense of some French text. With my very basic French that would be bad enough but it includes a hieroglyph that is vital to understanding the whole piece. What I don't understand is whether there is an agreed coding for hieroglyphs. The authors of the piece I'm reading quote "Sign U23 in the list of P. Grandet and B Mathieu. I don't have that book but I do have Gardiner's "Egyptian Grammar" so would sign U23 be the same?
