Hello Mr. Thomas,
I'm not sure myself, my brilliant ideas lol where "for the sake of discussion",and to answer this "formidable question", so I formed away in my three examples of what may have happened to the bodies of kings. Since nobody else knows what happened to it or the "parts" a crocodile may have left, I followed the mode of guessing of other posters.
Since "logical" and "rational" thinking is routinely emphasized here, the very idea that a king's body could be dragged into the Nile by a crocodile is valid only "for the sake of discussion", else we have to assume that the AE left it unattended "laying around" within, let's say 20' of the Nile. Neither the Giza Plateau nor the VoK is close enough to the Nile for this to happen, and in any case this is a silly "overall" notion, meaning not directed at you, Mr. Thomas, as much as is crocodiles moseying along with bodies in their mouth. Considering also that the temple to Sobek was built in Tebtunis, which is in the desert - middle of nowhere. I was there once looking for crocs lol but saw none, so I smoked whatever? with the men and got sooo sick and all my praying to the crocodile god didn't make me well.
Anyway, when "religoius-magic rituals [surrounding the crocodile god] pertinent to Egypt", as per Professor Gallazzi, comes into the picture, all the above is nullifyed, and Ritva's words (hi Ritva
)take on another meaning, viz, in order for a "new Horus" to "ascend" the old king, so to speak, has to die and be buried. If this 'magical' transformation doesn't happen, the deceased, be he a king or ordinary mortal, as the AE show us on the so called "Last Judgement Papyrus", is devoured by the hybrid crocodile/hippo creature, representing 'mostly' matter, and is dragged to the mud by the banks of the Nile to start all over again. The crocodile god does his magic in darkness, no one "sees" the new Horus rise save him who thereby becomes a ruler over Upper and Lower Egypt, or his double nature.
The AE show and say this over and over in numerous ways or allegory, as it doesn't make any sense whatsoever whent taken at face value. My "logical explanation" originates by looking and reading what they themselves paint and write, and all of it is subject to a given interpretation. My comments on Khufu were obviously tongue in check.
Thank you for your civil response, regardless whether we agree or disagree. I usually
the minute I click post.
