Actually, no it isn't. The blocks that came out of it were used for... get ready... the Sphinx Temple. They were slid several meters forward and stacked up.

This sequence is questionable. I have an article in my library that shows the design parameters of the Sphinx complex (the grid convention used) is not in line with the other structures of the Khafre complex, but rather with the Khufu complex.
In addition, if you haven't read Colin Reader's work on the subject, it is highly recommended. I think one of his articles is even hosted here at Ma'at. (well, it should be, his picture keeps coming up on the home page!)
