Much has been talked about the constellation of Orion. Let us avoid the arguments of reference to Orion in earlier times and examine the story of the death of Osiris circa Late Egypt.

According to the tests of Edfu?, Osiris was killed and placed in a box. He was recovered by Isis but was chopped up into 13 (the figure varies) pieces and lost his penis.

Look at the constellation of Orion, paticularly the belt. When north is "up", the belt below Al Nitak is down. Instead of a "sword" might this be the penis. When south is "up", there is no penis.

Go back in time to mummies. In late times, the incision to remove internal organs was in the groin on the left side. Before that, the incision was below the left rib-cage.

As has been suggested by others, might the box be the four main stars of our modern constellation of Orion?

Your call.
