Jon:
Yours: ”… If you read my post I supply both the title and author of the report (Vandier's "Manuel d'Archéologie Égyptienne") it's on page 30…”
Mine: That’s it…?
The book was written in 1958…!!!
Now please tell me the original source of information describing the angled casing stones from base to apex as you have drawn…also where, when, how, why and who removed them from G1. BTW…the temple in Cairo that others have suggested was built by Giza stone…it’s actually located next to a limestone quarry. The author of that story didn’t do his homework.
Unfortunately the only evidence of angular casing stones on G1 was that found by Colonel Vyse…at the base of the structure…nowhere else. It consisted of imported white limestone believed to be of Mokattem…Turah origin. Its small G2-a-b-c pyramids…also have a single layer of imported limestone set at their base.
Similar in design is G2, it has a “single” angled base layer not of limestone but “granite”.
It is true and visibly evident that this pyramid had its upper half encased in angular limestone but is was observed by M&R that the lower half of this upper section was intentionally removed, but there is no evidence of this pyramid ever being completely encased in angular limestone either.
G3 had its lower quarter encased in imported angular granite…no evidence of angular limestone casing “ever” existing on this structure.
Those are simple facts Jon that cannot be disproved.
Giza as built:
G1…Base course with angular limestone only.
G2…Base course with angular granite and upper half with angular limestone.
G3…Lower quarter with angular granite only.
It’s now up to us to realize why they elected this combination of angular casing stone.
BTW…nice art work.
Best.
