I have just created a PubPeer page in an attempt to get to the bottom of the controversy surrounding nanodiamonds that were reported to have been discovered in the Greenland ice sheet in 2008 during the filming of the PBS NOVA documentary "Megabeasts' Sudden Death". After 14 years, there has never been any followup paper by the authors, nor has the discovery been confirmed by others (despite the distribution of samples to researchers all over the world). The 2010 paper in Journal of Glaciology is still cited as "smoking gun" evidence for an impact at the Younger Dryas boundary (YDB ) but authors of Kurbatov et al (2010) were expressing doubts even before the Hiawatha crater was shown to be 58 million years too old to have anything to do with the Younger Dryas. This illustrates the importance of reporting negative results, even when they contradict your favored hypothesis (Mark Boslough).
