In a word: this reader of Ma'at can't, no!

They look a bit like draught pieces - [www.mastersofgames.com]

But the ones shown at that link are wood, and a slightly different configuration ... Plus, it's difficult to imagine bored sailors playing draughts and then chucking the pieces overboard in a temper when they lose ...
