My husband is worried about the kind of world his year-old great-granddaughter will grow up in.

So we've recently taken to even more concerted efforts to rinse and re-use plastic, and then recycle, wherever possible.

Although I suppose this might keep some infinitesimal amount of pollutants out of the oceans for a bit longer, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the scale of the problem. More people - a few billion more people - need to be thinking along these lines before any real difference could be made.
