You always have to be wary of whether these types of insiders really would have had access to that kind of information, The author's job was "entertainment and publication industries liaison" which would lead me to be a bit skeptical about that. He claims to have "discovered" secret documents about Roswell that were somehow just lying around in a historical archive at the CIA. Maybe, but that just seems very unlikely to me in an organization obsessed with secrecy and "need to know". The other problem I have with it is it was 100% an Air Force issue and I don't see what involvement, if any, the CIA would have had.
While I think there definitely were sightings and incidents at that time that have still not been adequtely explained, I've always believed that the Roswell "incident" would never have occurred if a PR-guy hadn't ended up inventing the wrong story to try and cover-up what was really going on (and has subsequently been documented): attempted surveillance of the USSR's nuclear program using high-altitude balloons.
