How to park a ship in a dike (levee), see : [www.laagste.nl]
The text is in Dutch, but the pictures are clear.
The picture with two ships is near a dike which had no big hole, but needed repair.

The single ship is the one parked in a 15 meter hole, with a 18 meter ship..
The last pictures show the area flooded when they would have failed to close the dike, probably killing thousands more.
The ship was salvaged later with a crane, it had no damage.

Still the water can surprise us, Wilnis 2004, a minor problem, but a reminder.

So I am even more convinced it is stupid to make large residential areas in the lowest polders.

Mister Rozendaal writes:"After all, the Delta plan was designed to protect the Netherlands from flood conditions that happen only once every 10,000 years!"
An engineer says that it still might happen next year..

With kind regards,
