Notice that when you "try again" the available symbols change, but in each case the numbers that Alan and Peski posted have the same symbol next to them. That means it doesn't guess a "different"symbol" at all; it just guesses the new "all the same" symbol' for all possible solutions. It's clever and a little baffling at first, but the explanation's clear enough. Thanks Alan and Peski.
