I saw nothing new that has not been covered in many similar programs before. The bottom-line conclusions from what I saw seemed to be:
1. Neanderthals were "fully human" in some critical sense.
2. "Lucy" is the earliest "missing link" in human evolution, with her key adapatation being bi-pedalism. She was not human in any sense, but her bi-pedalism is the key evolutionary step that led to hand use for tool making, which then led down the path to bigger brains and intelligence.
I'm no expert, but these seem to be somewhat main-stream views.
