I guess theoretical physics is not really something people here are interested in. But there are some really interesting debates in history, specifically on the fall of Rome, that have finaly come out of academia in a couple of good books (only one of which I am reading) -> Rome didn't fall in a day

I probably disagree with Heather nearly as much as I used to disagree with Gibbon. Its a sign of how good his book is that having read [some of] it, I'm left doubting his conclusions. We need more books like this. Real history that reads like a novel but is a solid example of what history is meant to be.
