Definitely wouldn't get cold around there when camping!

Seriously though, the U.S. Geological Survey hydrologist said the volcanic vents he studies usually get around 200 degrees and then farther down the hottest part was only 11 feet underground but 584 degrees. That's awful close to the surface to have the source be friction heat due to fault movement wouldn't it? I mean that close to the surface wouldn't movement have been noticed at the surface instantly?
