That's an interesting article for other reasons. It's true that there are problems with HRT, but women do need to be concerned with preventing heart disease and osteoporosis. I think that a good start in learning about menopause is to have women relate their own experiences. One of the major distresses is hot flashes, but they tend to decrease and go away after a while. Bone thinning doesn't, so it's important to do sustained weight bearing exercise several times a week on a continuing basis and to figure out how to ingest enough daily calcium in a form that is used effectively to sustain bones. For me, this has been an ongoing learning experience, but it's one I take seriously because a grandmother and an aunt suffered hip fractures and other problems because they didn't realize how important it was to keep their bones healthy.
