(for those of you who don't know him, Dennis Rawlins is an academic skeptic and a science historian who has been involved in controversy from way back. He was originally a member of Ciscop(?) society for science and debunking of paranormal, but resigned when he disagreed with their tactics)

Here he mawls the recent well published claims that some researcher had found Hipparchos's star catalogue on a celestial globe attached to a statue. I thought it was far fetched when I read the news, but Rawlins debunks comprehensively here, in conjunction with his team: (in his usual style)
