Copied from the Griffith Observatory's Sky Report for this week:
"A solar eclipse on Friday the 8th will be visible from much of the
Pacific Ocean, the western half of South America, Central America,
and the southern states -- but not from California. We are just
northwest of the path and we miss it entirely. It IS visible as a
partial eclipse from the southern half of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas,
and the south-eastern half of the country, and as far north up the
east coast as Washington D.C. Florida and the southeastern states
will get a decent view late in the afternoon, but again -- we're
north of the path in Los Angeles. The place to be is aboard a ship in
the South Pacific, where the eclipse is total."
