WG is pretty much right in what he says there. The laws we have generally deal with baryonic matter - the whole thing with the theory of dark matter is that is proposed a "substance" that hardly had any impact on normal matter. And in terms of dark energy there are things in current theories that it could possibly relate to such as Einsteins Gravitational Constant - but that controversial.
But yes the fact remains that most modern cosmologists claim that 96% of the universe is made up of 'stuff' unknown and never detected directly. But then if you're going down that route and criticising them for multiplication of entities then the biggest wopper is that the majority of them will also tell you that they rekon there are trillions of other universes event though we don't even know whats on the other side of our one. Its all pure speculation based on compelling theories - and they are also incredibly sophisticated and intelligent theories. One does wonder if they show much common sense though
To be honest I rekon the vast majority of the issues could be resolved if you consider extra dimensions (and the exitence of a creator god in terms of the anthropic issues with regards laws and constants etc), but then I'm accused of unwarranted multiplication of entities! Which is quite strange considering some of the smartest guys are themselves working in a completely different reality of M theory which fundamentally relies on extra dimensions. Its all a bit messed up right now IMO - hopefully on the verge of an hegelian leap...
