Well having seen several relatives survive well into their 90s, it seems to me that merely surviving to an old age is pointless unless an individual is healthy enough to remain physically active and mentally alert.

The moral question of which individuals will benefit from this longevity technology will certainly become an issue. Do only the rich get to live forever?

This planet has resources to support only a finite population. If everyone 'lives forever' how do we control population; legislate birth rates as in China?

Most innovations and scientific breakthroughs are made by the young. If we do start to control birth rates, will this have an effect on technological progress?

And finally why would would anyone want to be immortal? This brings to mind Robert Heinlein's Lazarus Long, who after living for 2500 years, wanted to die because he believed that was the only thing he had not experienced.
