Sorry to go off on a tangent

For years I have been trying to find out why My middle name is Haldane, I have done a family tree back to the 1754 and there are lots of people with Haldane as middle name and they all have David as first name, And I mean by grave full All of them from either Ayrshire in Scotland or Antrim in Northern Ireland.

To add to this I was contacted by a lady in Canada with the same surname asking about graves over there which had the prefix D H then surname asking if I knew what the names may have been, these graves dated to the 18 50 if I recollect correctly.

I am sure I will never find out why these names are used in almost every generation of my family and my surname is very rare, I guess the oral tradition when it goes takes swathes of history with it
