This notice was in the program from the Moundville Native American Festival and I wanted to pass it along in case people on the board knew someone who could qualify for this.

Thanks to the generosity of the Reese Phifer, Jr. Memorial Foundation, and Beverly Phifer, longtime supporters of Moundville Archaeological Park, we are excited to announce the establishment of The Come-Back-to-Alabama Native American Endowed Scholarship at the University of Alabama. This scholarship recognizes those tribes which were forcibly removed from Alabama during the Trail of Tears and encourages their descendants to return to the state in pursuit of their higher education. Members of tribes in other states whose ancestors are from Alabama are encouraged to apply for this scholarship available in the fall of 2006. For more information, please call 1-800-933-BAMA or visit www.scholarships.ua.edu.
