True. There is a kural for how one should read/study/learn...

Nirka atharkuth thaha.

one should learn without any faults/mistakes... after that, one should be able to follow that. that is the real learning.

We used to joke by modifying this kural...

virka edaikkuth thaha

......................................after learning, you should sell it according to its weight... In india old books and papers are sold according to their weight... ya, that is what we do; study, finish the exam, sell the old books. lol.




There was a song in one of the Tamil movies (song by Revathi in the movie "Aanpaavam", if any tamilian is reading this),

"Thaevaaramum padichohm Thiruvasaham padichohm
theriyaama Thirukkuralumthan padichohm
aanaana padippaiyellam annaadam padichupputtu ariyama puriaamathaan mulichchom
arivaana aathisoodi koducththalae avvaippaatti athaikkooda padi enna kilichhupputtohm"

the song starts by referring to very classic literary works and complaining that we don't follow that. then it comes to Thirukkural and says that we never understood/followed that either. then it realises, even as simple and so meaningful work as "aathisoodi" by our nobel poettess Avvai was also read by all of us, and what the hell did we do with that... it shows the frustration... it is one of my favourite songs
