Well.. if they could get five hundred or more buses to take people from the Superdome and Convention Center to big shelters in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, why couldn't they provide buses for the poor and sick BEFORE the storm so that these people could comply with the "mandatory" evacuation???

And no, I don't think the USA or the world can allow NOLA or its people to just disappear because the NOLA ports are so crucial. I understand that all the ports are salvageable, and they will have to be staffed and run by people in the city, and that city will have to house, feed, clothe, transport, school, and treat them.
