Why just Greek, though? The Shipwrecked Sailor is also cast in the form of a 'truthful' travel narrative; and what about Gilgamesh? Plenty of travel, dreams, fantasy, you name it. Although the Greek (Homeric) epics are unique in their length and linguistic concentration, I'm not sure I necessarily feel that their themes or focus are entirely different from those found in earlier fictional (or mythic, if you prefer) narratives.
