Hi PB,

Good luck with your thesis; I have a MSc in the Communication and Sociology of Science and you are stepping into the proverbial minefield with your choice of thesis!

"Science" as the acadamy is, I think, quite obviously defined by the same social and cultural inheritance as any other culture.

However, unlike most social activities it is, at least on the philosophical level, aware of this and, at its best, makes an attempt to isolate the "facts" (i.e. the pure data) from the constructed theory that explains those facts. The success of this is, of course, much debated within revisionist schools of Social/Cultural Anthropology and Sociology smiling smiley
