Nobody knows exact period of the author of these kurals, some say 30BC, but it is not conclusive. author name is also not his given name, it is his caste name "Valluvar", and the prefix "thiru" is for respect (equivalent to "Sir").. some even say these kurals were written by few people and were compiled at a later time.

so far my observation is, the kurals are not very well grouped, and not very relevantly titled. some headings (second heading) seem incomplete as well, I mean, considering the fact that well formulated kurals, each chapter contains 10 kurals each... but, after that, the next bigger-grouping does not have any such definition.. but, I would think they were all written by same poet though.
