I read an interesting article the other day about how the Mayans and Aztecs cultivated and domesticated the cacao tree and produced the first cacao beverage. The Aztecs named it xocolatl which became chocolat and subsequently chocolate. Since i consumed an entire box of cadbury's creme eggs last year and plan to do so this Easter, i can really appreciate this legacy! grinning smiley However, i think the original drink was probably savoury as opposed to sweet. Do they still produce the beverage in Mexico?
