I don't know if either of y'all did ...... but in my early days of learning how to speak I was always on military bases so I was exposed to people from all over the country ... not so much from the rest of the world unless they came here (Daddy traveled we stayed put) ... so I say somethings so southern US that I sound like Scarlett O'Hara ..(Jeff's family of northern folks laugh their butts off to hear me get seven syllables out of Jeff). but my 'oo' words (pool, school) come out sounding like a northerner... no matter how hard I've tried I can't seem to get rid of that hard sound in those words....
