While searching the Internet, I accidently found that a book about testing the accuracy of
local legends in Papua New Guinea is now available online as an open access book.

It is "The time of darkness : local legends and volcanic reality in Papua New Guinea" by R. J. Blong

It is an interesting book in the study of he-mythology.
